Breakfast Meeting

As an afterthought I can consider the present

Skylines and curved highways

Cliffhangings in real time and real

Realtime

Consumed while I am young

I lack nothing and want

Everything

I

Alone

I

Lonely please allow me to

Please be

Lonely

Let me see the city as collosal and ancient

Let my nights fall silent and sleepless

Into the city’s whole morning call

So unimportant that only the breath remains

I awake

To speak

Back

To speak

This is the only way I know

  1. Excellent poem! I especially love the imagery in the lines “Let me see the city as collosal and ancient, Let my nights fall silent and sleepless, Into the city’s whole morning call.” Beautiful!

“I lack nothing and want everything” is probably the most eloquent description of “first-world problems” I’ve found. Forgive me if that’s not what you were going for, but that’s how it struck me.

    Thanks so much for sharing!

  2. Awake and never asleep is always the way I want to be…thanks for the words as IT gifts the greater gratitude for where iam now as opposed to the sleepful day…
and love the sleepless life..with only joy for living life..

  3. i love the bit on the city and how you wish to see it…a really interesting progression in this…the structure plays up the feel of the narrator….i lack nothing and want everything…smiles, i think we resonated a bit there today….
